In accordance with the provisions of Law No. 53/2014, dated 22 May 2014, “On Deposit Insurance,” as amended, and the Annual and Periodic Monitoring Manual approved by Decision No. 134/2018 of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, dated 20 December 2018, the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) presented its 2025 Annual Report to the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance. The report was presented by Mr. Mina Kusta, General Director of the Agency.
The presentation of the Agency’s activities during the reporting period focused on the successful implementation of the recommendations set out in the Resolution of the Assembly regarding the activity of the Deposit Insurance Agency, the performance of deposits held by Albanian citizens in banks and savings and credit associations, and the prudent management of the funds established for the compensation of insured deposits belonging to individuals, merchants and commercial companies, which continued to show an upward trend throughout 2025. Within the framework of the European integration process and the alignment with the EU Directive on Deposit Guarantee Schemes, the Committee was also informed about the legislative steps undertaken by the Agency in drafting a new law that will reform the deposit insurance scheme in the Republic of Albania in accordance with European standards.
At the conclusion of the session, the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance expressed a positive assessment of the Agency’s work. This assessment serves as further evidence of the Agency’s institutional commitment to fulfilling its mission responsibly and to strengthening public confidence in the deposit insurance system.
