Tirana, January 29, 2025 – In the framework of the Financial Development and Sustainability Program, the Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency (ADIA) held a meeting today with the World Bank (WB) team, headed by Mrs. Rekha Reddy. The meeting focused on projects implemented by ADIA with the assistance of the World Bank and the future directions of their collaboration.
The General Director of ADIA, Mr. Genci Mamani, praised this cooperation as highly productive, particularly with the World Bank’s FinSAC Office. He emphasized the importance of joint projects in addressing technical and operational issues, as well as improving the regulatory and legal framework in line with international standards.
World Bank representatives commended ADIA’s activities as being based on best practices in the field of deposit insurance. Discussions centered on the continuation of cooperation between the two institutions, with a particular focus on aligning Albanian legislation with the EU Directive on Deposit Guarantee Schemes, as part of Albania’s commitments in the European integration process. In this regard, it was noted that the contribution of the World Bank and its structures would add significant value to ensuring a comprehensive, analytical, and professional legal and regulatory alignment. ADIA and the WB agreed to continue their commitment to developing new projects aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the deposit insurance scheme and strengthening the resilience of the financial system.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed their mutual appreciation for the cooperation between them and their willingness to further expand it in the future, emphasizing the importance of this partnership for the stability and development of the financial sector in Albania.
