Tirana, 14.11.2024 – The Deposit Insurance Agency, in collaboration with the Albanian Association of Banks, organized an awareness-raising meeting on the importance of cybersecurity in the financial system. Representatives from the Bank of Albania and all banks in the country’s banking system participated in the event.
The primary goal of the meeting was to address common challenges in identifying and mitigating risks from cyber threats. Discussions focused on maintaining public trust in the financial system through enhanced data security and the protection of depositor information.
The keynote speaker, Mr. Khalid Simaan, a cybersecurity expert from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, provided a comprehensive overview of cyber risks, international regulatory standards, and strategies through which the Deposit Insurance Agency, in collaboration with the Bank of Albania and member banks of the deposit insurance scheme, can contribute to strengthening the security of financial information related to deposits.
Participants shared experiences and best practices in addressing cyber risks and discussed the most effective ways of cooperation to ensure robust protection against potential cyberattacks.
This meeting marks an important step in raising awareness and strengthening capabilities to address cybersecurity challenges, actively contributing to a safer and more resilient financial system.
