The deposit insurance authorities of the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Italy sign a memorandum of understanding

The Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) of the Republic of Albania and the Fondo Interbancario di Tutela dei Depositi (FITD) of the Republic of Italy signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 4th of April 2019, in Tirana. The Memorandum was signed by the General Director of ADIA, Mr. Genci Mamani and the Executive Director of FITD, Mr. Giuseppe Boccuzzi. The official signing ceremony was also attended by Mr. Donald Duraj, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ADIA, Mr. David Walker, General Secretary of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI), as well as by other officials of both authorities.

The Memorandum aims at increasing the collaboration between the signatory parties by exchanging experience and strengthening the human capacities, with a view to develop the deposit insurance schemes in respective jurisdictions in compliance with the international standards. This initiative is considered as an important development for the Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency, in accordance with its policies to further develop collaboration with counterpart institutions, which are integral part of the Strategic Plan 2018-2020 priorities. In this respect, institutionalizing the cooperation with FITD is an important step, considering its professionalism and undisputed expertise in administering deposit insurance and bank resolution in Italy.

The Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency is confident that this Memorandum will contribute to further bond the professional relations with FITD through an increased dialogue and information exchange by organizing bilateral meetings and intensifying the mutual communication regarding issues of regulatory specter and their implementation into practice.
