The Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency, in the framework of its efforts to reform and strengthen existing arrangements for depositor protection, carried out the Project for the assessment of financial features of the deposit insurance scheme. This project was achieved with the support of World Bank FinSAC office.
The Project consisted of two components. The first one related to the assessment of the adequacy of deposit insurance coverage levels and the second component dealt with the development of a target fund methodology. This methodology is very important for the Agency, as it enables to assess on continuous basis the adequacy of the deposit insurance funds resources for dealing with an insurance event and also to support Agency policies regarding special features of the scheme.
The results of the Project were presented to the ADIA Governing Council by the World Bank and ADIA experts on 15 December 2020. Upon acknowledging the results, the Governing Council appreciated the Project as very important and congratulated the experts from the World Bank FinSAC office for their continuous contribution in strengthening the deposit insurance scheme in Albania.
