The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) held its 18th Annual General Meeting and Conference on 10 – 11 October 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey, hosted by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund of Turkey (SDIF). At this meeting, the Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency was represented by a delegation led by Mr. Genci Mamani, General Manager.

The IADI Annual Conference, titled “Realizing Reforms: What has Changed in Deposit Insurance Systems since the Crisis?”, featured presentations and panel discussions on topics related to the current global financial environment and the changes that have been caused by the global financial crisis, the role of deposit insurance schemes in setting up early warning systems, bank resolution, cross-border information and coordination as well as the impact of technological developments on the processes of bank resolution and deposit insurance. High-level conference panelists included IADI personalities, international deposit insurers, financial experts, academics on issues affecting the global economy and financial stability as well as  representatives of central banks.

On the occasion of this event, the Deposit Insurance Agency signed the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Korean Deposit Insurance Corporation. This renewal comes after fruitful cooperation between the two authorities in terms of participation in organized activities and study visits.

IADI is the world organization that sets standards in the field of deposit insurance. This organization became particularly important, due to the role of the deposit insurance schemes during the global financial crisis of 2008. The methodology for the assessment of compliance with the Core Principles developed by IADI is as well included in the IMF and World Bank financial systems assessment programs (FSAP) . IADI currently represents 92 deposit insurers institutions from around the world.
